- In a mixing bowl, add fish pieces, 1/2 tsp salt, red chili, turmeric, curd, lemon juice, garlic and mix it well, Marinate for 10 - 15 minutes.
- Heat some oil in a skillet and add the marinated fish pieces in it, shallow fry until it turns golden brown in colour from all sides.
- Heat oil in a heavy skillet, add 1 bay leaf, 1 cinnamon stick, cloves, black peppercorns and stir for a minute.
- Then, add chopped onions and fry till translucent or until it turns golden brown in color.
- Add coconut and tomato pieces, chili powder and salt, saute until it turns soft and pulpy.
- Let it cool and ransfer this into a blender and blend it into a puree.
- Take a heavy skillet, add the blended puree in it and give it a nice stir, then add chili powder and turmeric powder.
- Cook for sometime and add 1 cup water and bring it to a boil.
- Bring it to a boil, now add the fried fish in it and cook for 3 - 5 minutes on medium heat.
- Add coriander leaves and mix it again
- Serve piping hot kolhapuri fish curry with steamed rice.
