- 2-3 Dried Red Chillies (Broken into two)
- 2-3 Green Chillies (Slited into two)
- 2 Sprigs Curry Leaves
- 3-4 Pearl Onions (Chopped)
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- as requried Methi Powder (Pinch)
- 2 tsp Chilli Powder
- 2 tsp Coriander Powder
- as requried Salt
- 1 Fish Tamarind
- 1 tbsp Oil (For Frying the Fish)

- For Marination: Firstly, clean and wash the fish slices nicely. Drain off the excess water. Marinate it with the ingredients mentioned under "For Marination".
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Add the fish pieces and fry on both sides. Remove from pan. Allow it to cool a bit. Remove the skin and thorn and set them aside.
- For the Gravy: Heat oil in a non-stick kadai. Add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add the chopped garlic and saute for few seconds. Then add the chopped ginger and again saute for few seconds. Add the broken dried red chillies, slited green chillies and curry leaves and saute for few seconds. Add the chopped onions and saute till the onions are translucent. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell leaves. Add the salt and masala powders mentioned under 'For Gravy'.
- Saute it well till the masala is cooked and oil starts to separate.
- Add hot water and allow it to come to a boil. Add the fish tamarind.
- Add the fish pieces and cover and cook on low flame for about 6-8 minutes.
