- 360 gms Boneless Fish Fillet
- To marinate the fish and for batter
- 1/4 tsp Ginger powder (or paste)
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder (or paste)
- 1/2 Tsp Onion powder (or paste)
- 1/2 Tsp Black pepper crushed
- 3/4 tsp Salt
- 1 Small Lemon juice
- 1 Egg
- 2.5 tbsps Tapioca starch/ flour
- 1 tbsps Corn starch/ Flour
- 1/2 Tsp Chilli powder (optional)
- as required Enough Veg oil to fry
- To make the Chilli Fish
- 1 Medium sized onion chopped chunky and petals seperated
- 1 Capsicum/ Bell pepper diced or any big sized chilies
- 4-5 Garlic cloves finely chopped
- 1-2 Spring Onions chopped
- as needed Veg oil
- 1/2 Tsp Black pepper crushed
- 1 tbsp Soya sauce (light)
- 3 tbsps Tomato ketchup/ sauce
- 3 tbsps Chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tsp Vinegar
- For Garnishing
- as required Pan Toasted Sesame seeds (Black & white or any)
- as needed Chopped Spring onion/ Scallion
Steps to make Chilli Fish
- Cut the fish into small bite size pieces. Add the ingredients to marinate the fish except the egg and three kinds of flour, keep it aside for an hour.
- Mix all the 4 sauces and Vinegar in a bowl.
Add the egg and the flours to the marinated fish and fry it in hot oil till it becomes crispy and becomes golden brown. Take it out with a slotted spoon and keep it on a kitchen tissue paper to absorb excess oil if any. - Heat oil in a pan add the garlic and saute for a minute or two then add the chopped spring onion and onion and bellpeppers or chillies and saute for few minutes. Then add the fried fish and toss it, add grounded black pepper too. Now add the mixed sauce and vinegar and stir it so that the sauce coats the fish pieces evenly. Put it on a serving plate and garnish with Sesame seeds and Scallion and serve hot !
