  2. To marinate the fish and for batter
  3. 1/4 tsp Ginger powder (or paste)
  4. 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder (or paste)
  5. 1/2 Tsp Onion powder (or paste)
  6. 1/2 Tsp Black pepper crushed
  7. 3/4 tsp Salt
  8. 1 Small Lemon juice
  9. 1 Egg
  10. 2.5 tbsps Tapioca starch/ flour
  11. 1 tbsps Corn starch/ Flour
  12. 1/2 Tsp Chilli powder (optional)
  13. as required Enough Veg oil to fry
  14. To make the Chilli Fish
  15. 1 Medium sized onion chopped chunky and petals seperated
  16. 1 Capsicum/ Bell pepper diced or any big sized chilies
  17. 4-5 Garlic cloves finely chopped
  18. 1-2 Spring Onions chopped
  19. as needed Veg oil
  20. 1/2 Tsp Black pepper crushed
  21. 1 tbsp Soya sauce (light)
  22. 3 tbsps Tomato ketchup/ sauce
  23. 3 tbsps Chilli sauce
  24. 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  25. 1/2 Tsp Vinegar
  26. For Garnishing
  27. as required Pan Toasted Sesame seeds (Black & white or any)
  28. as needed Chopped Spring onion/ Scallion

Steps to make Chilli Fish

  1. Cut the fish into small bite size pieces. Add the ingredients to marinate the fish except the egg and three kinds of flour, keep it aside for an hour.
  2. Mix all the 4 sauces and Vinegar in a bowl.
    Add the egg and the flours to the marinated fish and fry it in hot oil till it becomes crispy and becomes golden brown. Take it out with a slotted spoon and keep it on a kitchen tissue paper to absorb excess oil if any.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add the garlic and saute for a minute or two then add the chopped spring onion and onion and bellpeppers or chillies and saute for few minutes. Then add the fried fish and toss it, add grounded black pepper too. Now add the mixed sauce and vinegar and stir it so that the sauce coats the fish pieces evenly. Put it on a serving plate and garnish with Sesame seeds and Scallion and serve hot !
