  1. For kofta
  2. 1/2 fish
  3. 1 medium size onion
  4. 4-6 green chillies
  5. 1 bunch fresh coriander

  9. 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  10. 1/4 tsp whole spice powder
  11. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  12. 1/4 tsp ginger powder
  13. 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Oil for frying
  16. For gravy
  17. 1 medium onion sliced
  18. 1 cup yogurt
  19. 1 tbsp ginger paste
  20. 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
  21. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  22. 1 tsp coriander powder
  23. 1/4 tsp whole spice powder
  24. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  25. Salt to taste

Instructions to make Fish koftay

  1. Wash fish nicely
  2. Keep fish pieces in steamer or in a strainer and keep it over boiling water. Cover lid and let it steam cooked for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Take out fish pieces in a bowl and remove skin and bones. Keep a side
  4. Take a chopper and add onion slices into it. Chopped finely
  5. Add green chillies and chopped again
  6. Add fresh coriander and chopped again.
  7. Now add this onion mixture into steamed fish.
  8. Add all dry spices for kofta and mix well to make firm smooth ball.
  9. At this stage add corn flour if needed. Usually if fish is dry than it is needed to bind otherwise not needed
  10. Make balls and shallow fry them and keep a side
  11. In the same oil add sliced onion and golden fry them. Take out and blend with yogurt and keep a side
  12. Now take a shallow pan add oil and heat it
  13. Add ginger garlic paste and sautay till light brown
  14. Now add all dry spices and mix for a few seconds
  15. Now add yogurt mixture and cook till all the spices combine together and masala release oil
  16. At this stage add fried fish balls and mix for few minutes
  17. Add water and let balls cook into gravy for 10-15 minutes after covering lid on low flame
  18. Dish out when desired consistency achieved and serve with Nan. Decorate with fresh coriander
  19. Enjoy with your family and friends
